We Interview Annalee Harkins About Her Rad Double Exposures Below!
When we first saw Annalee Harkins’ double exposure photos, we instantly knew we had to catch her for an interview!
What’s your current camera of choice?
‘My current camera of choice is my Polaroid Land Camera 195. It’s a fully manual bellowsy gem from the mid-70s that I will never, ever sell, to the disappoint of middle-aged camera shop guys everywhere. It’s brilliant, and I love the faithful little buzzing egg timer on the back that counts down to when you can peel apart your film…or eat your eggs.’
What inspires you?
‘I’m inspired by the possibilities of secret realms existing in what we think we know. I think photography is a way to capture that…that if you slow down time enough to a fraction of a second or extend it to a long exposure, it’s a way of seeing into another reality. Our eyes can only plod along at the same speed as every other ticking thing, but these other moments are there, just waiting for the right combination of light and time and dust to reveal something else entirely.’
